Introduction:

We arrived at Disney housing on the 7th of August. My housing complex is Patterson Court. On arrival, I was given a student guide note book, a bus schedule brochure and my photo was taken to make a housing ID which I received a minute later. I was then given my housing key.

A few days later we had our traditions, introduction to the Valencia College and had social security numbers processed.

Work:

Before we started working we had to first go through traditions. During traditions, we were taught the Disney culture like Disney four basic keys; Safety, Courtesy, Efficiency and Show, Disney point and Disney scoop among others. We were issued Disney ID that we use to access our work areas.

We then did training for our respective responsibilities and took a test.

I work at Spaceship Earth at Epcot. I work a maximum of six to seven hours a day. I mostly do evening shifts. Work is scheduled on the days I have no class. There are many positions on Spaceship Earth ride just like any other ride and during the shift we rotate around them. The rotation is assigned by our coordinators and sent to us through the computer in our break room.

On job I have three places am trained to do, Spaceship Earth, Illuminations and Park Clear and my uniform changes depending on which responsibility I am to take on that day.

The Disney Look:
The Disney look is the accepted look during working hours. This is a simple natural look, with a uniform and a name tag. If one chooses not to wear a uniform at work, they still have to wear a name tag. This is possible during classes. And if we are back stage we may or may not wear our name tags but we have to wear IDs with us.
School Life:
I have three mandatory classes to take. Business management class from Valencia College, Disney organizational leadership class and an online class. During all these classes, lessons take place in the classrooms in our resident compartments. These happen once a week and every lesson is approximately four hours. I also take some optional lessons provided by Disney professors. Some of the lessons I have taken are resume writing, acing the interview, networking 101, juggling the 5 bucket principle.

Residence:

There are four residence complexes. I live in Patterson court. I stay in a 5 people house but I have four roommates from Denmark, China and America. They are very awesome people. We are supposed to show our housing IDs to security every time we access any housing complex.

Social Life:

We are allowed to access all Disney theme parks for free. We can also access fast passes on our Disney applications 7 days in advance. We also enjoy discounts in some stores inside and outside the parks. Disney also provides parties and movie nights at some of the complexes for free.

Transportation is provided to all theme parks, some shopping malls like Walmart. Publix, Florida mall and to the different complexes. There is no transportation to church so I have to take an Uber.  All in all life is good out here.
